General questions

What areas do you cover?

Everywhere within 30 miles of Watford town centre — including Bushey, Rickmansworth, Hemel Hempstead, St Albans, Hatfield, Luton, Stevenage, High Wycombe, Uxbridge, Harrow and Edgware. Our areas page lists every town.

How do I book?

Call 01293 549164 at any time, or use the quote form on any page. Once you're happy with the price, we agree a collection time.

Do you offer same-day and out-of-hours collections?

Yes. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and offer same-day collections — call early for the best choice of times.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes. We're a licensed waste carrier with £5 million public liability insurance.

What do you need from me for a quote?

Your name, phone number and postcode, what needs to go and where it is in the property (upstairs, loft, garden), plus any access issues such as stairs or parking. Photos are the quickest way to an accurate price — you can attach them to the quote form.

Is the price fixed once I accept the quote?

Yes, as long as the waste on the day matches what you described. If there's significantly more, or different items, we'll explain the revised price before loading and you decide whether to go ahead.

What happens on collection day?

We arrive at the agreed time, check the items against your quote, carry everything out from wherever it is, load the van and sweep up. The waste is then sorted for reuse, recycling or licensed disposal.

Do I need to be home?

Not always. Many jobs are done with access arranged through a key holder, agent or key safe, as long as we've agreed exactly what's being removed.

Do you recycle?

Yes. Waste is sorted so reusable items and recyclable materials are kept out of landfill wherever possible.

What can't you take?

Asbestos, clinical waste, gas bottles, chemicals, liquid paints and other hazardous waste need specialist handling. Ask us and we'll point you in the right direction.

Do you provide paperwork?

Yes — businesses need a waste transfer note for commercial waste, and householders can ask for a receipt showing our carrier details.

Questions by service

Home & property clearances

  • Can you really collect today?

We offer same-day collections and operate 24/7. Availability depends on the time you call and the size of the job, so call early and we'll confirm the earliest slot straight away.

  • Do I need to be at the property during the clearance?

Not necessarily. Many clients give access via a key holder, estate agent or key safe. We agree exactly what is being cleared beforehand and can send photos when the job is finished.

  • How quickly can you clear a rental property?

We operate 24/7 and offer same-day collections. Call early with photos and we'll confirm the earliest slot — often the same day.

  • Does the person living there have to agree?

Wherever possible, yes. Clearances go best when the occupant is involved and decides what stays. Where a landlord, council or court is involved, we follow the instructions of whoever has legal authority over the property.

  • Can you clear a property before probate is granted?

Practically, yes — but executors should check with the solicitor handling the estate first, as contents may need valuing and executors' authority matters. We are happy to schedule the clearance for after the grant.

  • Does garden waste need to be bagged?

No. We can load it bagged or loose — loose is often quicker if it's piled in one place.

  • Can you take paint tins?

Dried-out paint tins can usually be taken; liquid paints and chemicals need separate handling. Tell us what you have.

  • Do you replace my council bin collection?

No — this is for extra waste on top of the council's service.

Item collections

  • Do I need to dismantle furniture before collection?

No. We dismantle wardrobes, beds and similar items on site where it's needed to get them out.

More about furniture removal & disposal
  • Why is sofa removal more expensive than other furniture?

Upholstered seating has to be separated and destroyed under the POPs rules, which costs more than general waste or wood recycling.

  • Does the mattress need to be in a bag?

No, but keeping it dry helps — a wet mattress is much harder to recycle.

    More about mattress disposal
  • Do I need to drain the hot tub first?

Yes. A full tub is far too heavy to move, and water damages the route through your garden. Drain it a day or two before collection.

  • Is my old piano worth anything?

Many older uprights have little or no resale value, but some are wanted by schools, community groups or individuals. It's worth checking before you arrange disposal.

  • Do items need to be left outside?

No. We collect from inside the property, including upstairs rooms and lofts.

    More about bulky waste collection
  • Do I need to defrost the freezer first?

Yes please — an empty, defrosted unit is safer to move and avoids water leaking through your home.

Business & trade waste

  • Can you clear our office outside working hours?

Yes. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, so evening, overnight and weekend clearances are all possible — tell us your preferred window when you ask for a quote.

  • Can you take asbestos?

No. Asbestos must be handled by a licensed specialist. If you suspect asbestos, don't disturb it — get it tested.

  • How do I open an account?

Call us or use the quote form with your organisation's details, the properties or sites involved and the type of work you expect. We'll agree terms and set up the account.

More about contract & account waste services
  • Do I need a waste transfer note?

Yes. Businesses should keep waste transfer notes for their waste, and we will provide the documentation for collections.
